Africa was home to a large collection of cultural groups. Many kingdoms had become powerful Europeans had arrived to africa. When European traders arrived African leaders faced many changes in their kingdoms. Some kings used slave trade to exchange slaves for fire arms and conquer other kingdoms nearby. The Dahomey were one of the nations useing slave trade to get firearms. A group of absolute monarchs ruled the Dahomey in the 1700s. Slowly the Dahomey would use these firearms to expand their kingdoms territory. The Dahomey Kingdom reached its peak of power in the early 1800s. The Zulu Kingdom was originally a group of farmers who lived in south africa. In the early 1800s a warrior named Shaka united the Zulu people of south africa and helped them develop fighting tactics that helped the zulu become the most powerful kingdom in the region
