Government bans jade mining in West China
As the supply of a gemstone found in West China is running out the government bans jade mining in parts of the town of Hotan. The scarcity of gemstone has forced the price of jade up to ten-thousand times more than it was 30 years ago. The situation is threatening the livelihood of miners. Al Jazeera's Melissa Chan reports from Hotan, western China.
