BEIJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- The Erqisi River, the second largest river in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the nation's only river to flow northwestward into the Arctic Ocean, is featured in this latest dispatch of photos release by Chinanews.com.
The exceptionally low temperature in Habahe county, where the river is located, has frozen most of the water and snow has carpeted the open fields bordering the river banks.
Neighbouring Kazakhstan and Russia in the west and north, the population of Habahe county is composed of 18 minority groups including the ancient nomadic Tuwa people. Tourism has been one of the county's key industries with its rich natural resources and diversified ethnic culture.
