Ring Seine Fishing in Kerala

The Ring Seine method of fishing was introduced in Kerala in the 80s and soon grew in numbers, size and might (horse power) across the state and became the most efficient way to catch pelagic fish like sardine, mackerel, anchovy etc. This film was shot at sea off Alappad and is probably the first documentary of this fishing technique in India. This is also the first in a series of short films titled "Fishing Methods of India", directed by VN Roy of the South Indian Federation of Fishermen Societies (SIFFS), the largest NGO working among small boat fishermen in South Asia.
