CHAPADA DOS GUIMARAES Brazil
Located in the west of Brazil, the Chapada dos Guimaraes National Park was inaugurated in 1989. It is Brazil's 'Wild West' whose earthiness and mystical scenery curls around the geodetic centre of South America. The huge mesas of glowing red arenit rock seem to calm the very heavens and in the former seabed are fossilised shell fish and within the rocks, images of the movement of the waves. The park is a universe of waterfalls, caves, mountain peaks and magnificent views plus rock fashioned by the elements. In recent years, more than fifty archaeological sites have been discovered, with rock paintings and prehistoric fossils. Chapada dos Guimaraes is part of Earth's history whose raw, natural setting inspires the very deepest of emotions.
